artmagazine, the first of its kind available online in Austria, was founded eight years ago and convinces around 7,000 art interested readers each month through competent and critical reports on art, the art market and exhibitions.

Based on proven technologies of multimedia museum guides, artmagazine will offer cutting-edge guides for the first time outside museum areas.

Contrary to W-LAN, which is used in museums, application services allow the download of complete tours onto smart phones like Google Android, Blackberries, iPods or iPhones. There is no further online connection required during the exhibition tour through the city.

Under the iArtGuide project, which is funded by departure, gallery exhibitions are turned into multimedia exhibition tours. The intention is to wet the users’ appetite for visiting galleries; included maps and GPS facilitate orientation in the city. The editorial team will offer thematic and geographically organized tours through Vienna on a regular basis. Online interfaces to existing PDA websites of the artmagazine (mobile.artmagazine.cc) also offer a complete overview of the ongoing program of galleries and museums as well as links to the reviews of artmagazine.
